Overview
Heartland Christian Center’s Creative Ministry exists to assist our pastor in communicating the gospel and love of Jesus Christ through unconventional, or “out of the box,” methods. These methods include dramas, human videos, illustrated messages, videos, special events and more. These avenues not only exist to serve the pulpit ministry, but also provide opportunities for individuals to use a host of gift sets to the glory of God!
Veterans Program
For the past two years, Heartland organized and produced the Veterans Program at the Porter County Fair to honor the veterans of our country. The program has included a motorcycle patriotic parade, inspirational singing, multimedia presentations, a 21 gun salute, and a message from our Pastor. Response to the event was extremely positive, as attendence grew from around 100 people to nearly 1,000 for our 2009 presentation.
Christmas Program
The Christmas program “The Journey" was a great success for the past three years with heart touching drama and comedy bringing a new perspective to this Christmas season. Presented through great acting and humor, this moving story line saw success not only in its skillful presentation, but also in its ability to stir the hearts and minds of those attending. Dozens of people indicated that they had made a decision to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior or had gained a new perspective on the meaning of Christmas. Praise God!
Easter Illustrated Message
For Easter 2007, we presented an illustrated message called “The Price.” What is an "illustrated message,” you ask? In short, an illustrated message pulls multiple elements together to create the service experience. For this specific presentation, we used worship, special music, drama, human video, video, special lighting, a sermon and a congregational activity which created a life-changing experience for many.
September 11 Commemoration Service
Our first project was the September 11 Commemoration Service, which took place on Sunday, September 10, 2006. The service included the presentation of the Color Guard, a vocal presentation of “God Bless America”, the Pledge of Allegiance, a video collage of local service people (within and without Heartland Christian Center), prayer for our special guests and a special message by Pastor Phil Willingham. It was a great time of honoring those who sacrifice to serve our community and our country.
We look forward to what is yet to come for the Creative Ministry! There are several areas of involvement under our umbrella, and we certainly hope to see many at Heartland Christian Center find a fulfilling way to use their gifts and serve the body! Some opportunities will include actors, videographers (sounds more “technical” than it is!), backstage assistance, prop and costume assistance, the chance to contribute to the overall creative planning process, and more.
